This is a Science course that is important to everyday life. It deals with the properties, composition and structure of elements and compounds used in daily life (water, oil, perfumes, soup, paper, minerals, plastics, drugs e.t.c. The Government policy of industrialization has resulted to a high demand for qualified chemists for Industries, Government Institutions and research Institutions in the country.

To this end, the course curriculum for BSc in General Chemistry prepares students to apply chemistry principles required for Industry and research. Prospective students will be exposed to practical oriented skills that prepare them to work in different sectors in the country.
BSc. in General Chemistry graduates will possess strong analytical skills to operation, development methods and analyze chemicals using modern analytical tools. They will also be able to develop and monitor the production of quality chemical products. Students will work on a research project of their choice that creates products or solves community problems. This programme is for students with career interest related to chemical Industries and Research Institutions.
