Background Information
Facility construction started in 2014 simultaneously with staff recruitment, acquisition of medical equipment, furniture and registration process. So far the main building with the following departments such as Outpatient, Inpatient, Labour room, Laboratory, Pharmacy and minor theatre are in function.
Construction of Operating theatre, Female and paediatric wards are in progress whereby the completion depends on the availability of funds. The facility canteen and shops started functioning in January 2020
Security measures include fencing around the facility compound also there are security camera system backed by watchmen both on front and real gates
Staff orientation followed between November 2017 up to January 2018 when the facility was registered under the Ministry of Health Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children with minimum staff of 17 medical professionals and one attendant. Of recent the facility has 41 staff members.
This health facility started officially offering medical services in mid- April 2018 and in June 2018 it was accredited to the National Health Insurance now the students and those insured under NHIF benefit services under this scheme. In November 2018 His Lordship Arch Bishop Isaac Amani officially opened the facility. The District Commissioner with other distinct Officials were among guests present on that day
The facility location is one of the potential places for medical, surgical, obstetrical, nursing and diagnostic centre. Health centre capacity is 20 beds. There is a delivery room with 2 delivery beds.Mwenge Catholic University Health Centre
Introduction
Mwenge Catholic University Health Centre is part and parcel of Mwenge Catholic University which caters Medical Services to students, Staff and community of Uru south Division in Moshi District. The centre is located in the Campus within easy reach of students and the community.
It is registered under the Ministry of Health Community Development, Gender Elderly and Children with Registration N0. 034212 Services are in accordance with Ministry of Health requirements. The facility operates on 24 hour basis with average minimum daily outpatient attendance 40 -60 patients. Reproductive and child health services conducted from Monday through Friday.
The facility has a functioning Laboratory, Pharmacy and delivery room with 2 delivery beds. Minor surgical operations including incision and drainage, stitching and evacuation are done on daily basis.
An inpatient service available for 24 hours and referral system is in place.Collaboration with other health providers

Management Team

The Health Facility Committee
Is made up of 12 members, The chairperson, Secretary and two representatives from each of the following: University students, staff, community, University Administration, and the District.
This committee functions according to the guidelines set by the Ministry of health to be a link between service providers and the community. It ensures that the community receives services that are accessible, affordable and reliable. On the one hand it is responsible for receiving and approval of annual plans and budget, receives quarterly activity reports and also looks for alternative sources of funding.Services Offered
Mwenge Catholic University Health Centre offers services at health centre level as stipulated by the Ministry of Health. The centre is well equipped according to national standards. The under-mentioned services shall continue to advance while other services will be added in future.
